Duke is committed to fostering a lively, respectful online community that upholds Duke’s values. Please all participants to engage with courtesy and to follow the rules and responsibilities of each social media platform. We do not remove comments solely because of a point of view; however, Duke reserves the right to block abusive users and remove comments that:

  • Contain hateful, threatening, malicious, or discriminatory language — including attacks based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, disability or other protected characteristics.
  • Include libelous statements — false claims presented as fact that could harm an individual or organization.
  • Harass, bully, or intimidate others — including repeated unwanted contact or personal attacks.
  • Promote or sell products or services — including commercial advertising or solicitation.
  • Contain profanity, nudity, or graphic or gratuitous violence
  • Encourage or condone illegal activity
  • Are spam or irrelevant to the purpose of the page
  • Are repetitive or duplicative — multiple identical or nearly identical posts by the same user.
  • Could compromise the safety or privacy of any individual — including sharing sensitive personal information.
  • Violate FERPA, HIPAA, or other applicable laws or regulations — including protected health or educational information.

Community‑submitted content reflects the views of the individual author and does not represent the official positions of Duke University, Duke Health or any affiliated entity. Mentions, shares or other engagement by Duke Health accounts do not imply endorsement of third‑party organizations, individuals or content.

Information shared by Duke on social media is intended for general educational purposes only and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

Please remember that social media platforms are public spaces. Content you share may be visible to others and may be archived or redistributed by third parties. Duke University does not control the data practices or policies of external platforms.
